  JUNE 2008

SWAT logoOn the first Thursday, Friday and Saturday of June, Springwatch Action Teams (SWATs) helped to transform pieces of land in Castledawson, Crumlin, Omagh, Strathfoyle and Kilfennan to the amazement and delight of the local communities.

BBC Radio Ulster and Radio Foyle transmitted live shows, BBC Newsline covered the events and BBC Springwatch gave the lion's share of regional coverage to Northern Ireland.

These projects were carried out as part of
BBC Breathing Places. More below.

Blue-eyed grass - the sun-loving wildflower
Blue-eyed grass - the sun-loving wildflowerThis member of the Iris family - it's not a grass - is a Fermanagh speciality. It is a unique wildflower that reminds us of the links between history, culture and wildlife in the rich Fermanagh landscape. Help to conserve it by sending in your sightings of it, and who knows what other plants you will discover!
