Conservation
Volunteers Northern Ireland is offering places on the two new DEL training
programmes, Training for Success and ApprenticeshipsNI, as well as
Training for Employment.
So, if
you are an employer, unemployed, employed or have just left school
and you want to work outdoors in a horticultural trade (as a gardener,
in parks, grounds maintenance, greenkeeper, in garden centres and so
on), we will have something for you.
For Training
for Success you do not need any qualifications to join, and you
get a training allowance with a work placement while you work towards
your qualification.
ApprenticeshipsNI offers
opportunities to both employees and employers! If you are employed
in the horticultural trades you can train towards relevant qualifications.
If you are an employer you could up-skill your existing workforce.
The cost of training is being met by DEL.

Look
forward to a spring flower show
It's
still summer (despite the rain), but some of us are already thinking
of spring! When our winters draw to a close, it can feel like spring
will never arrive, but when it finally does, it's the bulbs that usually
appear first to brighten the days.

New
roads from old
Our
Tree Nursery has begun to use an excellent new material for road building,
path making, etc. This is a mixture of old tarmac, bits of flags and
stones of various sizes but, with the majority being easily workable
tarmac, can be spread with little bother.
